What You’ll Need

Here is everything you’ll need to make Marshmallow Peppermint Bark

  • 2 cups (16oz package) dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (8oz package) cream cheese flavored chocolate chips or white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup crushed candy canes or peppermint candies (optional)

How to Make Marshmallow Peppermint Bark

Get ready to whip up the easiest and most delicious bark ever:

Step 1: Prepare the Pan

Line your cookie sheet with parchment paper or waxed paper. I prefer a half sized sheet pan, but any sheet pan will work since the chocolate will hold its shape.

Step 2: Melt the Dark Chocolate & Spread

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth and fully melted. You can also melt the chocolate over a double boiler if you prefer. Once the dark chocolate is melted, pour it onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and spread it out into an even layer.

Step 3: Melt the White Chocolate & Spread

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth and fully melted. Once the white chocolate is melted, drizzle it over the top of the dark chocolate and swirl it into the dark chocolate.

Step 4: Add the Marshmallows

While the chocolate is still warm, sprinkle the mini marshmallows evenly over the top. Press them gently into the chocolate to make sure they stick.

Step 5: Add the Crushed Candy Canes

For a festive twist, sprinkle crushed peppermint candies or candy canes over the marshmallows.

Step 6: Chill

Place the baking sheet in the fridge for about 20-30 minutes, or until the chocolate is fully set.

Step 7: Break and Enjoy

Once the peppermint bark is firm, remove it from the fridge and break it into pieces. You can go for big chunks or small, snackable pieces—it’s totally up to you!

Pro Tips for the Best Peppermint Marshmallow Bark

  • Mix in Hot Cocoa: Add a tablespoon of hot chocolate mix directly into the melted chocolate before spreading it out for an even richer, chocolatey flavor.
  • Different Chocolate Combos: Around the holidays, all kinds of new chocolate chip flavors come out. Try a mixture of dark and milk chocolate, cheesecake chocolate chips, and more.
  • Add Layers: For a more decadent bark, try making two layers—one of milk chocolate and one of white chocolate—sandwiched with marshmallows in between.
  • Salty-Sweet Combo: If you love the combination of sweet and salty, sprinkle a little sea salt or crushed pretzels on top of the bark before it sets. It’ll balance out the sweetness of the marshmallows and chocolate perfectly! If you do this, leave off the crushed peppermint.

Storing Peppermint Marshmallow Bark

Store your bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week (if it lasts that long!). If you prefer your bark chilled, you can also keep it in the fridge—it’ll stay extra firm and crisp!

You can also freeze it in an airtight freezer bag and it will last even longer.
