How to Make Marshmallow Mummies
Making marshmallow mummies is fast and simple, making them a perfect Halloween party idea!
Step 1: Melt the White Candy Coating
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white candy melts according to the package instructions. Stir until smooth and silky. If the candy coating is too thick, you can add a teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening to thin it out.
Step 1: Stick the Marshmallow
- Dip about 1/4 inch of a lolipop stick into the melted candy melt. Then insert the lollipop stick into the bottom of a marshmallow. Do this for each marshmallow pop.
Step 3: Dip the Marshmallows
- The candy hardens quickly so work on one mummy at a time. Holding the lollipop stick, dip the top of the marshmallow into the melted white candy coating, using a fork or dipping tool to cover it completely. Let any excess coating drip off, and then place the dipped marshmallows onto a stand, or in a cup to dry
Step 4: Add Candy Eyes
- While the chocolate is still slightly wet, press two candy eyes onto the front of each marshmallow mummy. If they don’t stick well, add a small dap of chocolate to the back of the eye before placing it on the marshmallow.
Step 5: Create the Mummy Bandages
- Once the candy coating has set, it’s time to add the “mummy bandages.” Transfer some melted white candy coating into a small piping bag or zip-top bag with a tiny corner cut off. Pipe thin, messy lines across each marshmallow to mimic the look of mummy bandages. Don’t worry about perfection—mummies are supposed to look a little unraveled! TIP: Work in small batches because the chocolate can harden in the bag. You may need to microwave the chocolate a couple of times during this process.
Step 6: Add Final Details
- If you’d like to add a bit more personality to your marshmallow mummies, use a black edible marker or gel to draw tiny mouths, stitches, or other spooky details.
